Fishing in Iceland
We love fishing!
If you are looking for a fishing holiday in Iceland, you have come to the right place. We are happy to use our expertise to build a private, custom adventure—whether it’s a sightseeing trip with a bit of fishing included or your annual fishing getaway with friends.
Lakes
Iceland has plenty of lakes where you have an excellent chance of catching fish—mainly Arctic char and trout, and with some luck, the occasional salmon. Lakes offer fun fishing for all levels and are especially kid-friendly. Once the fish start biting, the kids become just as “hooked” as the fish.
Lakes in Iceland allow for fly fishing, spinners, and bait (worms). You are allowed to keep your catch, and we will be happy to set up a grill.
Trout Rivers
Trout can be found in most rivers in Iceland, though some are far more productive than others. Many trout rivers allow fly fishing, spinners, and bait, though a number of them are fly-only. Some rivers have limits on the number of fish you may keep, and a few are strictly catch-and-release.
Salmon Rivers
Atlantic salmon in Iceland is a bucket-list catch for many serious anglers. Salmon rivers here are fly-only and catch-and-release, offering a true challenge and reward for dedicated fly fishers.
