The Golden Circle

Your guide will meet up with you at your hotel at 9 am and you will head out to the Golden Circle that is looping 300 km up to the Southern uplands and farmlands and back to Reykjavík.  The three most important attractions on this route are Thingvellir National Park old parliament site and the two tectonic plates fault line. This is where the vikings founded Alþingi or Parliament and your guide will explain all about how they met each summer to say the law and pass judgements.  The famous Geysir geothermal hot spring area where you will see Strokkur hot spring shoot boiling water high in the air every 5-8 minutes and of course the massive two level waterfall Gullfoss. Weather and conditions dependant we can now shy away from the main traffic heading to Rótarsandur wasteland / highlands where not many vehicles pass.
